Ridiculously good noise from Japan. Hasegawa was the lead singer in Aburakado and Shizuo played with Keiji Haino in the incredible folk-drone group Nijiuma. Both are amazing musical acts I will definitely end up covering later in this blog (Haino in particualar, he is one of my favorite figures in Japanese underground). The duo's sound on this album, though is quite different from either of those two. The two employ very unique instrumentation, including traditional Japanese instruments and ukulele, and feed them through a slew of effects and manipulate feedback, etc. They manage to create an incredibly dense, complex, and layered work of harsh noise, while maintaining a distinct organic feel. One of my favorite noise releases in recent years. Highly recommended.
